GIF: Matt Adams shoves fan for catching foul ball

Matt Adams is going to have himself some explaining to do after an incident with a fan in Cincinnati today. Adams was pursuing a foul ball into the stands and was in position to potentially make the catch, only a fan stuck his glove above Adams’ and made the catch himself. What a great moment […]

Bee delay strikes Chase Field

There is a pretty wild situation going on at Chase Field during the Giants-Diamondbacks game. The game was briefly delayed due to a swarm of bees in center field, and after the delay, the teams decided to still play with the bees still swarming around their nest. Numerous Diamondbacks hitters have tried to hit the nest with smashes off of Tim Lincecum, but they’ve all failed so far. However, the Snakes have still ended up with an early lead, bees and all.

Umpire Tim McClelland to miss season with back injury

You don’t often hear about umpires missing any time due to injuries, but if there are umpires whose time away from the game would make headlines, Tim McClelland would be one. The 31-year veteran ump will miss the entire 2014 season due to a back injury, for which he couldn’t get doctors to clear him. […]

Russell Wilson absolutely fired his first pitch on Wednesday

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has become an honorary mascot of sorts for the Rangers after they picked him in December’s Rule 5 draft, and Wilson threw out the first pitch before Wednesday’s Phillies-Rangers game. The pitch was a little inside (to a righty, that is), but Wilson got some decent velocity on it. Hopefully, this is going to end the charade of “Russell Wilson, Texas Rangers motivational tool” (or whatever it is they’re calling him).

David Ross stars in Major League parody

Boston Red Sox backup catcher David Ross is one of the funniest players in the league, and this video of him re-enacting nearly every major role from Major League is just perfect. No Jake Taylor though? That would have been too perfect, considering Ross is, you know, a catcher.

Dugout Digest – blown save day

It’s too early for teams to fret about their bullpens, right? Well…maybe not. Blown saves were in vogue on Wednesday. Joe Nathan blew his first chance as a Tiger. Glen Perkins shockingly blew one for the Twins. LaTroy Hawkins tried his damnedest to blow his first save attempt as a Rockie. Jonathan Papelbon imploded in […]

Bryce Harper confusingly penciled into sixth spot of lineup

21-year-old Bryce Harper hasn’t started a game lower than fifth in the lineup since the first four games of his career. On Wednesday night, first-year manager Matt Williams decided to plug the young face of baseball into the sixth spot. Williams’ explanation to The Washington Post was, um, perplexing. Williams said that he wants to take […]

Tampa Bay Rays sign Chris Archer to favorable extension

And you thought the start of the regular season meant that young players were temporarily done signing extensions. Not the case, as the Tampa Bay Rays proved early on Monday as they locked yet another young piece up on a long term deal. The Rays agreed to a new six-year contract with starter Chris Archer, after just one […]

Another Padres ballgirl made a great catch

During Tuesday’s Dodgers-Padres game, San Diego’s ballgirl down the right field line made a nice catch on this sinking liner hit by Chris Denorfia.

While that’s all well and good, what makes this catch even more remarkable is that it’s the second time in two games that a ballgirl down the right field line at Petco Park has made a great catch. Check out this video from Sunday’s Dodgers-Padres game.

That’s just eerie. If you sit up the right field line in San Diego, you’re not going to get smashed by a sinking liner, that’s for sure.

Brian Wilson to DL with nerve irritation in elbow

Dodgers reliever Brian Wilson was terrible in his season debut Sunday night versus the Padres. As it turns out, Wilson may have been dealing with more than simply not pitching well. The Dodgers placed Wilson on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with nerve irritation in his right elbow. (As the joke went on Tuesday night, […]

Wilson Ramos

Wilson Ramos likely out 4-8 weeks

Over the past two seasons, Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos has had some of the worst injury luck in baseball. It looks like that unlucky streak will stretch into a third season. The Washington Post says that Ramos likely needs hamate bone surgery on his left hand, and could miss four to eight weeks as a […]
