Yankees To Honor Former Catcher With Jorge Posada Day Saturday, While Looking To Maintain First In Division

When the New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians meet in game three of their four-game set on Saturday, August 22, it won’t just be about the baseball action that takes place on the diamond. Tens of thousands of Yankees faithful will be packing the stadium on this afternoon to honor and commemorate one of the biggest fan-favorite position players in franchise history.

That, of course, would be Jorge Posada, the former longtime Yankees catcher who played all 17 of his seasons with the organization, and helped the club win five World Series championships during his soon-to-be-celebrated tenure. Not only was he a winner, Posada was also highly regarded at his position, as the general consensus tabbed him as one of the best catchers during his lengthy stint in the Major Leagues, which came to an end in 2011. After all, he made the American League All-Star team five times, while also racking up five AL Silver Slugger awards for his offensive prowess. Without question, Posada was very instrumental in New York’s significant success over the past two decades.

As one might expect, tickets are in high demand for Jorge Posada Day. That’s exactly why the better deals for tickets can generally be found on Yankees.com, which actually has better offers compared to that of the secondary market, in which other sellers intently inflate the price for overzealous fans. For instance, for someone who might want to sit in section 332B, row 7, you could get those seats for just about half the price on Yankees.com, which offers them for the face value price of $32, while on the secondary market, those same seats are going for $60.

Furthermore, you can also save considerably more on tickets to sit in section 134, row 18. Through the Yankees, you can get those seats for $80, which, again, is cheaper than it is on the secondary market, where sellers have those tickets available for $90. It doesn’t stop there, as in section 112, row 19, tickets are going for $166 on the secondary market but if you pursue these seats through the team, you can get them for $155 from the Yankees.

The former Yankee great will be commemorated with his own collector’s card that will be distributed to fans in attendance. On top of that, there will be a ceremony held for Posada in which his jersey number is retired by the team, while also introducing a plaque in his honor into Monument Park at the stadium.

Not only that, the Yankees will have an important task on their hands of trying to secure another win in the standings. With the Toronto Blue Jays rapidly approaching them for first-place in the AL East — they are only 1.5 games back, after all — every game is crucial from here on out, even against the lower-tier teams who look like they’ll be sitting out this postseason. Interestingly, these two clubs just met last week in Cleveland, and it was the Indians who surprisingly won the series, taking two of three from the Bronx Bombers. Thus, it’s mandatory that the Yanks do not underestimate their opponent once again, as the Indians do sport a fine amount of talent on their roster. It’s all the more reason to come out to Yankee Stadium and witness a quality baseball affair on top of the Jorge Posada Day activities at the ballpark.
