The Tampa Bay Rays aren’t exactly where they want to be as they gear up for an important August, but at 53-54, they’re still just 7.5 games back from the AL East-leading New York Yankees. Perhaps more importantly, they find themselves just two games out of an AL Wild Card spot, with plenty of time to make their move in trying to lock it up.
Whether that run comes or not, Tampa Bay fans get to enjoy the show at a solid discount to close out their year, as Rays tickets average out at just over $89 the rest of the way. August specifically offers up solid value, with no game topping out over $125. Let’s take a closer look at that value by breaking down the cheapest and priciest Rays games for this month:
Cheapest – 8/31/2015 @ Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards | Avg: $33 | Get-in: $3
An AL East battle on the cheap? Sure, Rays and O’s fans will gladly take that. The division race is as heated as ever as the Rays and Orioles are separated by just two games and the entire division is trying to chase down the Yankees. The latter may be tough to do, but Tampa Bay can surely help their cause by taking down Manny Machado and Co. in this August 31 battle. The two sides have kept things tight thus far in 2015, with the Orioles holding a slight 7-5 series-lead on the season. Fans are getting an obvious deal at $33 on average, while anyone can hit the cheap seats for just $3. The price is more than worth it, as mashers like Machado, Chris Davis and Adam Jones should keep things interesting at Camden Yards, regardless of the outcome.
Most Expensive – 8/30/2015 VS. Kansas City Royals at Tropicana Field | Avg: $122.50 | Get-in: $15
The Rays get a chance to take down one of the best teams in baseball on August 30, and they get to try to do it in their own backyard at Tropicana Field. The Royals dispatched the Rays in all four tries earlier this year, and certainly weren’t shy with their bats, which produced 33 runs over the four-game series. That’s especially impressive when you consider that Tampa Bay’s starting pitching ranks amongst the best in the AL. It certainly won’t get any easier, as the Royals recently fortified their roster with the additions of Johnny Cueto and Ben Zobrist just prior to the trade deadline. The good news is this showdown comes at a decent rate for Royals tickets, especially when you factor in that it’s Kid’s Drawstring Bag Giveaway day.
