On Wednesday night, Yoenis Cespedes hit his first home run as a member of the New York Mets.
Did Cespedes rightfully take all the credit for his blast? No – he gave some love to a yellow parakeet that showed up at Citi Field.

Yoenis Cespedes said he wore his yellow armband because "I knew there was a bird on the field and I wanted to look like the bird." #Mets

Cespedes has actually struggled a bit since coming to New York, hitting .261/.277/.391 with just one walk and the one homer. But the Mets are a season-best ten games above .500, and are 3.5 games up on the Nationals in the NL East, their largest lead in the division since May 6th.
