Last October, Royals fan Paul Rudd got understandably excited when his team defeated the Orioles in the ALCS to advance to the World Series. Caught up in the moment, as many of us would — especially when being invited on the field to join in the celebration — the actor invited everyone to keep the party going at his mother’s house.
But you know, Rudd’s a funny guy. You might know him from such films as Anchorman, This is 40, Role Models and I Love You, Man. He’s a jokester. So he was joking when he invited everyone over to his mom’s place for beers.
Yet as he explained to David Letterman Tuesday night, some fans actually showed up to the house (where Rudd’s sister and brother-in-law now live) expecting to party and Rudd wasn’t there. Because he was joking.

However, Rudd seems like a nice guy. And he apparently feels bad about the misunderstanding. Or maybe he just wishes there really had been a party at his mom’s house. So Rudd doubled down on his original invitation. If the Royals win the World Series this year, the party will happen — with two kegs!
And you thought the defending AL champs were playing so well (11-3, tied for the best record in MLB going into Wednesday night’s play) because they had a chip on their shoulder against so many picking against them. Hey, maybe they want the kegger with Rudd too. OK, they probably want to win the World Series. But a kegger with Rudd would be fun.
