It wasn’t a good night in Washington DC for home plate umpire Vic Carapazza. Eight innings after ejecting Nationals manager Matt Williams and second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera, he got hit in the head with a foul ball off the bat of Danny Espinosa that ricocheted off the screen behind home plate. The remaining crowd at Nationals Park, and members of both teams’ benches, had a laugh at his expense.
As for the initial incident that began to turn people against Carapazza, here’s the pair of calls that led to the ejections of Williams and Cabrera in the tenth inning.
Yikes. That’s one hell of a tantrum by Cabrera.
