The Padres are dealing third baseman Chase Headley to the Yankees for…well, next to nothing.
Yankees acquire Chase Headley from the Padres for Yangervis Solarte and Rafael DePaula.

Headley is hitting .229/.296/.355 with the Padres this year, just two seasons removed from an MVP-caliber 2012.
Yangervis Solarte is a 27-year old career minor leaguer who hit .254/.337/.381 in the majors with the Yankees this season before getting sent back to AAA. Rafael De Paula is a 23-year old pitcher who has a 4.15 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 89 innings with high-A Tampa.
This my friends, is the definition of a salary dump and a prime reason why you should sell high on talent instead of letting it wither on the vine.
