Something finally went right for Shin-Soo Choo during his career with the Texas Rangers. On Tuesday night, Choo hit for the cycle in the Rangers’ 9-0 win over the Rockies at Coors Field.
Choo’s cycle started in the second inning, when he smashed an RBI double off of Kyle Kendrick.
In the fourth, Choo homered off of Kendrick to complete half of the cycle.
In the fifth, Choo got the easy part out of the way with an RBI single off of Yohan Flande. Just for the hell of it, Choo added a stolen base in the fifth.
But in the seventh, Choo grounded out, and his cycle hopes looked dashed. But his teammates bailed him out and got him a fifth at bat in the ninth, and Choo finished off his cycle with a triple against Rex Brothers. For the night, Choo went 4/5 with three runs scored, three RBI, and a stolen base.
He’s the second player to hit for the cycle this year, following Brock Holt of the Red Sox back in June. Choo is also the ninth Ranger to hit for the cycle, and the first since Alex Rios in September of 2013.
