Rob Manfred is already back pedaling on his shift talk

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports interviewed new MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, and the interview will air on Tuesday’s edition of Fox Sports Live. In this trailer released by Fox Sports, Manfred is already furiously back pedaling on his controversial comments about banning defensive shifts made earlier this week.

Well that takes care of that. If hitters do what they’re supposed to do, and adjust to shifts, MLB won’t feel the need to do anything. If hitters continue to be one-dimensional and don’t adapt, MLB could consider a change to throw these limited players a bone.

I’m glad that’s clarified. Hopefully more players that are victims of extreme shifts take a lesson from Robinson Cano.

Or David Ortiz.

Or Adrian Gonzalez.

If three of the best hitters in the game are smart enough to change the way they play the game when faced with a shift, why can’t some more mediocre hitters do the same damn thing?
