The Tampa Bay Rays released an early short list of managerial candidates, and one name immediately jumps out – former Kansas City Royal (and Seattle Mariner, and Philadelphia Phillie, and New York Yankee) Raul Ibanez.

Craig Counsell and Kevin Cash are also interesting names that you don’t see too often in managerial discussions.
As for the surprising names *not* mentioned…
No Lovullo or Bogar on #Rays list a bit of a surprise, though Bogar did just take job with #Angels. Also no Kapler, likely joining #Dodgers

I have a feeling the Rays aren’t going to make a quick decision on the successor to Joe Maddon. This process will take awhile.
