Randy Johnson’s alias in Cooperstown? Eddie Plank

When celebrities travel, they often use aliases when they’re staying at hotels. New Baseball Hall of Famer Randy Johnson is no exception to the rule, though a 6’10, mulleted man would stand out a bit in rural Cooperstown, New York.

However, Johnson still did use an alias while staying in Cooperstown, and his alias was an appropriate one – Eddie Plank.

Plank pitched in the early part of the 1900s, winning 326 games while mainly pitching with the Philadelphia Athletics. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1946. However, he wasn’t the first pitcher in MLB history to win 300 games as Johnson notes – Cy Young, Christy Mathewson, Pud Galvin, Kid Nichols, Tim Keefe, and John Clarkson all got there before Plank.

Needless to say, that’s a pretty cool nod to history – even if Plank was a foot shorter than Johnson.
