Mike Pelfrey throws glove to first to record out

We’ve seen this happen plenty of times before, but it never fails to amuse me. Adeiny Hechavarria smacked a chopper back to the mound…and Mike Pelfrey couldn’t get the ball out of his glove.

Naturally, he did what you’re taught to do – he threw the whole glove over to Joe Mauer at first base.

I had no idea that Hechavarria could hit a ball that hard. He’s not exactly known for his offensive prowess.

Pelfrey ended up throwing three scoreless innings, allowing two hits, striking out two, and walking none. Not bad for a guy who only made five starts in 2014.
