Michael Cuddyer hit for the second cycle in his career on Sunday night, capping off the Rockies doubleheader sweep of the Reds with a little bit of history.
It’s been a lost year for Cuddyer, as the 35-year old has played in just 33 games in 2014 while dealing with both a strained hamstring and a fractured shoulder.
He’s the first Rockie to hit for the cycle since Carlos Gonzalez did it in 2010, and the fifth player of the last 20 years to hit for multiple cycles (John Olerud, Brad Wilkerson, Adrian Beltre, Aaron Hill).
Cuddyer’s cycle is the first in baseball this season, with the final cycle of last season coming on September 23rd. The last season without a cycle was 1983, so that streak will continue on, hopefully for quite awhile.
