After unexpectedly signing with the Washington Nationals this week, former Detroit Tigers ace Max Scherzer said goodbye to Tigers fans and the city of Detroit with this full-page ad in the Detroit Free Press on Sunday.

A version of the ad also appeared on the Free Press website, which is a cool touch I can’t remember seeing before.

Scherzer spent five fruitful years with the Tigers, winning the 2013 AL Cy Young award and finishing fifth in 2014. He also made the All-Star Game in both 2013 and 2014, starting the 2013 game at Citi Field.
