Marlins outfielder Marcell Ozuna compares AAA stint to a jail

Last week, I wrote about the Miami Marlins and how their continued existence is a complete and utter joke. One of the points I focused on was center fielder Marcell Ozuna’s demotion to AAA following a cold streak, which everyone saw through as an attempt to prevent Ozuna from reaching Super Two status this winter.

Well, Miami finally called Ozuna back up to the majors over the weekend when Christian Yelich was forced to go on the DL, and Ozuna didn’t exactly take the high road when talking about his demotion. In fact, he compared the stint with the AAA New Orleans Zephyrs to jail.

“I was in the jail over there. It’s like a jail,” Ozuna said of his time with the Zephyrs. “But it’s OK. I’m back, and I’m going to help the team, help Miami.”

“They tell me you’re going down for work, get your feeling back and you come back,” Ozuna said Saturday. “I know what happened when they sent me down. I knew that’s coming. I don’t go there for work, because they know me. I don’t need the work. One for 36, 1 for 100, every big-league player has it. I have it and everybody has it.”

Ozuna has gone 1/8 with a run scored in two games since being recalled.

Well Marlins fans, I hope you enjoyed watching Ozuna, because after he’s spoken out so loudly against the team, I don’t see him being around next year. But hey, given that this is the Marlins, I’m sure any team in baseball can acquire him for just a couple of relievers in high-A.
