Jeff Francoeur threw *two* innings for the Phillies on Tuesday

Just how bad are things going for the Philadelphia Phillies right now? During Tuesday’s 19-3 thrashing at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles, they brought Jeff Francoeur to the mound.

But Frenchy didn’t just pitch one inning – Ryne Sandberg and company let him throw TWO innings.

It seems like Sandberg wanted to pull Francoeur before the end of the eighth inning, but pitching coach Bob McClure wasn’t getting through to the bullpen…because the phone was off the hook.

As if this team couldn’t get any more dysfunctional…

Anyway, Francoeur finished his two innings by allowing two runs on one hit (a homer by Ryan Flaherty), three walks, and one strikeout. Poor, poor Chris Davis….

Francoeur’s fastball topped out at 89.6 miles per hour, and he also flashed a few cutters, sliders, changeups, and even what Brooks Baseball is classifying as a knuckleball.

At least we can all finally rest easy – Jeff Francoeur and his electric arm got the opportunity to pitch in an MLB game.
