The only time a Washington baseball team won the World Series was in 1924, when the Washington Senators defeated the New York Giants. Footage of the series wasn’t thought to exist…until now.
The footage was unearthed by the Library of Congress in August, and is in nearly perfect condition. The reel of film containing the footage was found in a detached, non-climate controlled garage in Massachusetts, which makes its condition even more surprising.
If you’re a fan of baseball history, this is one of the most incredible things ever.
Oh, and look who’s on the hill to close out his only World Series title – Walter Johnson.
