Casey McGehee gets upset after Giancarlo Stanton's plunking

All hell broke loose after Giancarlo Stanton was hit in the face

The good news (if you could call it that) about Giancarlo Stanton’s injuries from last night – they don’t immediately to be as serious as they looked at first.

There will be further evaluation of Stanton in Miami today.

But after Stanton was hit, chaos erupted in Milwaukee. Following the plunking, Mike Fiers then hit Reed Johnson – and home plate umpire Jeff Kellogg ruled that Johnson swung for an inning-ending strike three. The Marlins were *not* happy.

Marlins third baseman Casey McGehee and manager Mike Redmond were both ejected. Garrett Jones, who shoved an umpire in the fracas, wasn’t ejected.

After both benches were warned, Anthony DeSclafani of the Marlins hit Carlos Gomez and was immediately ejected in the sixth inning.

Redmond, McGehee, and Johnson weren’t happy after the game, while Fiers expressed remorse.

Yikes. What a mess. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that of all involved parties, the one who comes off the best is Carlos Gomez, of all people. After DeSclafani hit him, he didn’t escalate the situation and devolve it into chaos – he put his head down and went to first base.

Are there going to be suspensions? Well…maybe. I doubt there will be any of much significance – maybe a game each for McGehee, Redmond, and DeSclafani. I think that’s fair – they acted irresponsibly and should be punished accordingly.
