Joe DiMaggio’s record 56 game hitting streak ended 73 years ago on Thursday. MLB.com has unearthed this rare radio of DiMaggio talking about the end of the streak, and how a cab driver in Cleveland may have jinxed him by telling him the streak would end. I don’t believe in jinxes, and who knows how much this unassuming comment really mattered to DiMaggio. It’s still crazy to think about, however.
