The Milwaukee Brewers have made their third trade of the last….oh, 16 hours or so, sending reliever Jonathan Broxton to the St. Louis Cardinals.
RHP Jonathan Broxton has been traded to St. Louis for minor league OF Malik Collymore, who will be assigned to Rookie @helenabrewers.

Broxton has an ugly 5.89 ERA this season, but his underlying peripherals are solid, as Broxton has pitched to a 3.65 FIP and 3.07 xFIP. On the year, Broxton has struck out 37 and walked ten in 36 2/3 innings.
He’s still owed the balance of a $9 million salary this year, and has a $1 million buyout on a $9 million club option in 2016. Broxton initially came to the Brewers last August in a post-deadline deal from the Reds.
The Brewers will be covering an unknown amount of that salary, and will be receiving minor league outfielder Malik Collymore in return.
Collymore is just 20, but hasn’t made it out of Rookie ball. The tenth round pick by the Cardinals in 2013 is hitting .216/.326/.378 with two homers and three steals this season in 23 games.
Broxton joins ex-Marlins closer Steve Cishek as a new addition to a formidable St. Louis bullpen that includes closer Trevor Rosenthal and the heavily worked duo of Seth Maness and Kevin Siegrist.
