Ben Revere’s fielding flub led to an Andrew McCutchen inside the parker

I have no idea what Ben Revere was thinking when he was trying to field this ball off the bat of Andrew McCutchen in the 5th inning on Wednesday.

Seriously, what the hell? He wasn’t going to catch the ball, given how high it was hit off the wall. If Revere played it off the wall, he would have held McCutchen to an easy double. McCutchen’s homer tied the game at three, and Russell Martin homered two batters later to make it 4-3. The Phillies didn’t even put a runner on base after the two-homer fifth for the Pirates.
