The offseason just got a lot more interesting for two teams. Rays president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman is joining the Dodgers with the same title. Former GM Ned Coletti remains with the club in an advisory role.

The Dodgers already were going to have an interesting winter, thanks to the free agency of Hanley Ramirez, the tremendous amounts of money sunk into Brian Wilson, Andre Ethier, and Carl Crawford, and the need to rebuild a brutal bullpen. The future of Don Mattingly also remains a question, though the remnants of the Dodgers front office still seems committed to him.
As for the Rays…things will be *very* interesting for them this offseason.

The future of Joe Maddon remains a question. His contract only runs through the 2015 season, and he’ll be a hot commodity for any team wanting a new manager – perhaps even the Dodgers if Mattingly struggles in 2015 (or is outright fired by Friedman before the season begins).
Hey, at least the Rays already traded David Price. Imagine new president of baseball ops Matt Silverman having that as the first thing on his table.
