Aaron Altherr hit an inside the park grand slam against the Nationals

The Washington Nationals are desperately clinging to their playoff lives, and the Philadelphia Phillies are going to do everything in their power to make this a long weekend for the soon-to-be dethroned NL East champions.

In the third inning of Friday’s game, Aaron Altherr hit a sinking liner to center field that Michael Taylor dove for.

Taylor whiffed on Altherr’s hit, and it rolled all the way to the warning track, clearing the bases and allowing Altherr to score without a throw.

I didn’t time officially time it, but Altherr circled the bases in roughly 15 seconds. Impressive.

A couple of innings later, Altherr would dump his second homer of the night over the left field fence. What the hell is happening? The Phillies aren’t allowed to have solid-looking, young talent!

Washington can be eliminated from the playoff race as early as Saturday – and that’s looking like more and more of a possibility as this game continues.
