If you went to the San Francisco Giants home opener today and didn’t pay out the nose for parking, consider yourself lucky. Lots near the stadium were charging as much as $100 for a spot before the World Champions raised their 2014 banner.
Say what?! This is what parking lots are charging on opening day. @SFGiants #gouging #mapit pic.twitter.com/m47jqe3oc6

$100 for parking for the home opener at AT&T? That's disgusting.

@LyanneMelendez @SFGiants @MikeNiccoABC7 To pay for parking or spend $100 on food at the ball park. I vote for food! pic.twitter.com/310DNFLYc9

For what it’s worth, this technically isn’t “gouging” since you have the choice whether or not to drive to the game and park your car. It’s still ridiculous, but if people will pay the prices, it’s sadly justifiable.
The lesson here? Take public transportation to ballgames whenever you can, folks – especially when you’re heading to the home opener of the defending World Champions.
