Yoenis Cespedes has made plenty of headlines during spring training. First, he signed a whopping three-year, $75 million extension with the Mets. Then, he showed off his car collection by driving to the Mets facility in Port St. Lucie in a new one every day. Then, he bought a $7,000 pig at the St. Lucie county fair while in full cowboy garb. And what do you do with a $7,000 pig? You eat it, of course.
Cespedes reportedly said (or at least the Mets said) he had no plans to kill the pig, but then basic human instincts took over and he has sent it to a butcher to be primed and ready for a feast made for the King of New York baseball (as far as we’re concerned). The Mets were worried about a potential backlash to what Cespedes planned to do with the pig, according to the New York Daily News.
Cespedes is one of the many reasons why the Mets are NL East favorites this season, so he could do almost anything he wants, even with a pig that cost a fortune. But if you had the money to buy a $7,000 pig, and you weren’t a rancher or farmer, what else would you do with it?
