The minor league season’s most awesome theme jerseys

Minor League Baseball is ridiculous. Each team has absurd promotions each year designed to gain national press for their team and increase local attendance. One of the most popular promotional tactics is the theme night, where the home team will wear a bizarre jersey related to the team and (usually) auction them off for charity.

This season, theme nights are out of control. Over the last year, we’ve spotlighted more than a dozen theme jerseys, from Batman to Star Wars to Nickelodeon and everything in between. But there are plenty more that have fallen through the cracks, and we felt the need to take a look at the more ridiculous jerseys that minor league teams will be wearing this year.

The Fresno Grizzlies, the new AAA affiliate of the Houston Astros, are doing *seven* theme nights in 2015, but the Jerry Tarkanian themed jerseys they’ll be wearing on April 10th along with the Las Vegas 51s are fantastic and not over the top whatsoever.

The Jackson Generals, an AA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, are donning Wizard of Oz jerseys on May 15th.

The Frisco RoughRiders (AA affiliate of the Texas Rangers) will be wearing Full House themed jerseys on June 12th.

I’m sure you heard about the Saved by the Bell jerseys that the Brooklyn Cyclones, low-A affiliate of the New York Mets, will be wearing on June 24th.

On July 18th, the Buffalo Bisons (Toronto Blue Jays AAA affiliate) will be wearing some sick Star Wars Night jerseys. This is kind of a thing for them.

It’s Christmas in July for the Rangers’ AAA affiliate Round Rock Express, who will wear ugly sweater jerseys on July 24th as one of their six themed jerseys.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, high-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, are celebrating Christmas *Vacation* in July on July 26th with these jerseys.

On August 6th, the Lowell Spinners (A-ball affiliate of the Boston Red Sox) will wear Parrothead jerseys.

From August 13th-15th, the Midland Rockhounds (AA affiliate of the Oakland Athletics) will be celebrating Oil Field Weekend with these jerseys.

The Sacramento River Cats, AAA affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are tapping into my inner child with these 90s Night Legends of the Hidden Temple jerseys on August 15th. Would have preferred the Silver Snakes, to be honest.

(the River Cats also have four other theme jersey nights, which you can check out here)
