Max Scherzer bids adieu to Detroit, Tigers fans

After unexpectedly signing with the Washington Nationals this week, former Detroit Tigers ace Max Scherzer said goodbye to Tigers fans and the city of Detroit with this full-page ad in the Detroit Free Press on Sunday.

A version of the ad also appeared on the Free Press website, which is a cool touch I can’t remember seeing before.

Scherzer spent five fruitful years with the Tigers, winning the 2013 AL Cy Young award and finishing fifth in 2014. He also made the All-Star Game in both 2013 and 2014, starting the 2013 game at Citi Field.
