The longest home runs for the week ending April 30th

There wasn’t much change on our season-long list this week, but there were still some majestic blasts over the past seven days. Let’s take a look.

1. Mark Trumbo vs Kyle Kendrick, 451 feet (April 28th)

We have a lot of fun with Mark Trumbo here at TOC, but the man can hit the bejeezus out of the ball. If only he was able to actually hit it to those seats in left center on the fly instead of having it bounce off of the walkway…

2t. Justin Maxwell vs Eddie Butler, 447 feet (April 24th)

For a Coors Field homer, this is mild. But hey, it’s Justin Maxwell – he’ll take what he can get.

2t. Nelson Cruz vs Wandy Rodriguez, 447 feet (April 29th)

MLB.com is calling this homer 483 feet, as measured by Statcast. I’m calling bull on that. The details simply don’t add up for me. That doesn’t mean this wasn’t a blast by Cruz, but I’m taking the Statcast measurement with a grain of salt for now.

4. Miguel Cabrera vs Tim Stauffer, 446 feet (April 29th)

If someone ended up doing this during last year’s Home Run Derby at Target Field, we would have been awed. But seeing it happen in a game? Gross. Second deck shots in Minnesota are always fun.

5. Aramis Ramirez vs Johnny Cueto, 444 feet (April 28th)

This is probably the lowlight of the year for Johnny Cueto. Aramis Ramirez really put a jolt into this ball, and if he can keep hitting like that, he may be a very interesting trade target in July.

Longest homers of the year
1. Alex Rodriguez vs Nathan Karns, 477 feet (April 17th)
