The Toronto Blue Jays tied the Texas Rangers in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to a solo homer by Edwin Encarnacion.
In the seventh, the Rangers took the lead back…on one of the most ridiculous plays you’ll ever see.
With a 1-2 count, Aaron Sanchez threw ball two to Shin-Soo Choo. Russell Martin threw the ball back to the mound. It hit off the bat of Choo, standing in the batter’s box. Home plate umpire Dale Scott called the ball dead, but Rougned Odor came home to score on the play. Odor was sent back to third, but after a discussion between the umpires, Odor was allowed to score, and Rogers Centre lost its damn mind, throwing beer cans, bottles, and other debris onto the field.
In the aftermath of the play, Brett Cecil of the Blue Jays was ejected, the play was reviewed (and upheld), and Toronto put the game under protest.
Chaos. Complete and utter chaos.
