The most exciting walk offs of the week (June 16th edition)

There were…not a lot of great walk offs this week. That really leaves me with not a lot of content for this column, but I’ll try to make the best of it.

June 10th, Athletics vs Angels

The story of this 14 inning game in Anaheim was Yoenis Cespedes’ unreal throw at the plate to nail Albert Pujols. But that ended up not mattering in the grand scheme of things after Collin Cowgill dumped this Jeff Francis pitcher over the left field wall and yes, over the glove of Cespedes.

June 11th, Padres vs Phillies

Reid Brignac is apparently some sort of superhero for the Phillies this year, delivering yet another big walk off winner. This time, his hit went into the seats and he got the full hero treatment while running the bases.

June 12th, Diamondbacks vs Astros

This Astros team is kind of fun to watch, huh? Chris Carter line drive walk off homer gave the Astros a series win over the Diamondbacks, and really, this team is nowhere nearly as bad as anyone expected coming into the season.

June 15th, Twins vs Tigers

Sam Fuld has an arm like a wet noodle. If the Twins had a center fielder that could throw well, maybe this game goes into extra innings.

June 15th, Pirates vs Marlins

There was nothing Gregory Polanco could do here. He had to retreat to make the catch on this Casey McGehee fly ball, and not even a perfect throw would have nabbed Ed Lucas at the plate. Painful loss for the Pirates at any rate, though.

About Joe Lucia

I hate your favorite team. I also sort of hate most of my favorite teams.
