The most exciting walk offs for the week ending September 7th

Eight different teams had walk off wins this week. Eight! Several playoff contenders also suffered some absolutely gut wrenching losses this week, but all were able to rebound and have themselves good weeks regardless.

September 1st, Red Sox vs Rays

Bases loaded, one out? There was nothing the Red Sox could have done on a fly ball hit this deep by Matt Joyce. This actually wasn’t the worst loss for Boston this week, though.

September 1st, Giants vs Rockies

There was no way that a game this crazy wasn’t going to end with anything other than a walk off. If only it were a homer. Alas, Charlie Blackmon made the best of a disappointing season for the Rockies.

September 2nd, Diamondbacks vs Padres

Cory Spangenberg’s first career home run couldn’t have come at a better time for the Rockies. Man, he belted this one – that’s one hell of a way to make an impact during September call-up season.

September 3rd, Pirates vs Cardinals

Losing a game like this to finish off a sweep could have ruined the Pirates season. They didn’t break though, heading into Wrigley and beating the Cubs’ brains in over three straight games.

September 4th, Red Sox vs Yankees

Aaaaaaaaand *this* would qualify as the most disappointing Red Sox loss of the week. Two solo homers in the ninth off of Koji Uehara? Ouch…just ouch.

September 5th, White Sox vs Indians

How’s this for a return from the DL – a walk off single for your team that is desperately trying to claw its way into the playoff race? Good on you, David Murphy.

September 5th, Blue Jays vs Red Sox

Much like in Boston’s walk off loss to the Rays, there was nothing the Blue Jays could do there – bases loaded, one out, and a ball crushed to the deepest part of the ballpark.

September 6th, Orioles vs Rays

Oh boy, the walk off loss that is almost entirely your team’s fault. That’s a tough one to swallow.

September 6th, Astros vs Athletics

The A’s needed this one. Unfortunately for them, it was *their* bullpen which would blow the game on Sunday, handing Houston the series victory.

September 6th, Padres vs Rockies

The Rockies won’t just roll over, die, and let themselves get eliminated from the playoff chase just yet. I’m sure they will at some point over the next couple of days, but dammit, not this weekend!

I hate your favorite team. I also sort of hate most of my favorite teams.
