The longest homers for the week ending May 8th

We have no new entrants into our top five longest homers of the year this week, but one player showed up on the list for the third time. The other four players haven’t made appearances yet this season – until now.

1. Justin Upton vs. Tyler Lyons, 457 feet (May 6th)

This homer isn’t a cheapy – it nearly clears the walkway behind the massive sea of blue seats in the Turner Field outfield.

2. Edwin Encarnacion vs. A.J. Burnett, 455 feet (May 8th)

This homer gets some extra props for being the 200th of Encarnacion’s career. Congratulations Edwin, I’m happy it didn’t happen with a wall scraper.

3. Yasiel Puig vs. Jacob Turner, 452 feet (May 3rd)

Yasiel Puig hit a cruise missile off of his bat at Marlins Park, and there isn’t a damn thing that anyone can do about it. Pretty cool bat flip, too.

4. Michael Choice vs. Kevin Jepsen, 443 feet (May 4th)

You don’t see many balls go up the hill in left field at Angel Stadium…Michael Choice parked one there, though.

5. Matt Dominguez vs. Justin Miller, 443 feet (May 8th)

Dominguez really got a hold of this pitch from Justin Miller. And while the homer doesn’t LOOK too wild, keep in mind this is Comerica Park – it takes a lot to muscle a ball out of there.

1. Giancarlo Stanton vs Eric Stults, 484 feet (April 4th)
2. David Ortiz vs Masahiro Tanaka, 482 feet (April 22nd)
