No Giancarlo this week…but there are still some bombs that deserve to be seen.
1. Anthony Rizzo vs Ryan Vogelsong, 466 feet (August 19th)
This bomb by Anthony Rizzo didn’t go on to the much more attainable Waveland Avenue – no, it went onto Sheffield Avenue, behind right field at Wrigley. That takes some strength.
2. Nate Freiman vs Mike Minor, 459 feet (August 17th)
This is another one of those homers hit into the batter’s eye with absolutely no context of just how far the homer went…but it was definitely a bomb.
3. Ryan Ludwick vs Yohan Flande, 458 feet (August 17th)
Coors Field home runs are a beautiful, beautiful thing, are they not?
4. Michael Cuddyer vs Dylan Axelrod, 440 feet (August 17th)
You’re right Joe, they really are. This blast by Cuddyer looks like it went further than Ludwick’s, but when you consider the power alleys at Coors, Ludwick’s superior distance makes sense.
5. Carlos Santana vs Ubaldo Jimenez, 437 feet (August 16th)
This shot by Santana very nearly reached the second level of hte batter’s eye at Progressive Field. Yeah, that’s a long homer.
