I have some bad news – there’s no Giancarlo Stanton homers featured this week. Also, there will be no Trumbombs featured for the foreseeable future after the Diamondbacks placed their slugger on the DL with a fractured foot. However, I also have some good news – there are some insane shots featured anyway. Enjoy!
1) David Ortiz vs Masahiro Tanaka, 482 feet (April 22nd)
You know, this home run by David Ortiz doesn’t look *that* impressive, considering it was a line drive instead of a majestic, Stanton-esque homer. But look at where this shot landed – that’s not a cheap one to that part of Fenway Park.
2) Ian Desmond vs Ernesto Frieri, 462 feet (April 21st)
The Red Porch at Nationals Park is a nice target for hitters. Desmond launched this shot off of Ernesto Frieri, and nearly got it to the porch on the fly, clearing the red seats beyond the left center field wall in the process.
3) Chris Davis vs Dustin McGowan, 459 feet (April 23rd)
Chris Davis + Rogers Centre = this. This homer from Davis didn’t just clear the center field fence, it landed in the seats far above the center field wall. That takes some serious power.
4) Josmil Pinto vs Louis Coleman, 459 feet (April 20th)
This homer from Pinto is very similar to the one we saw from Ortiz earlier – a line drive that doesn’t look like it traveled very far. But this thing landed in the Kauffman Stadium fountains – that’s a long haul from home plate.
5) Michael Morse vs Tyler Chatwood, 458 feet (April 23rd)
In the past, we’ve talked about the power it takes to send a ball out to right center at Coors Field. Not only did Morse manage to do that here, he managed to smash the ball off of the back wall in right center – a hefty shot.
