The longest homers for the week ending April 17th

Who wants to see more dingers? Well, I hope you all like Giancarlo Stanton, because he’s once again the man this week. Going forward with this series, the only question is “will there be a week where Stanton isn’t featured?”

1. Giancarlo Stanton vs Jonathan Pettibone, 469 feet (April 12th)

The bad news – this isn’t Stanton’s longest homer of the year, nor his longest homer at Citizens Bank Park. The good news – it’s not his last appearance on the list.

2. Giancarlo Stanton vs Stephen Strasburg, 457 feet (April 15th)

Dead center at Marlins Park is a long way from home plate. Stanton made it look easy, and he did it off of a stud in Stephen Strasburg. All I can do anymore is nod my head in awe.

3. Prince Fielder vs Blake Beavan, 446 feet (April 15th).

Fielder’s first home run as a Ranger was *not* a cheap shot. You typically don’t see many homers at Globe Life Park land in center field on either direction of the grassy knoll, but Fielder pulled it off.

4. Mark Trumbo vs Jamey Weight, 446 feet (April 13th).

Trumbo’s Trumbombs have been the lone highlight of a miserable Diamondbacks season so far. He now has six homers with Arizona, and is doing exactly what everyone expected him to do – hit homers, play bad defense, and fail to get on base at a reasonable clip.

5. Xander Bogaerts vs Chris Sale, 444 feet (April 17th).

So, how’s THIS for your first major league homer? A moon shot off of Chris Sale, working on a no hitter? Yeah, that’ll do, Xander.

Five longest homers of the year
1. Stanton vs Eric Stults, 484 feet (April 4th)
