During Monday night’s Pirates-Padres game at Petco Park in San Diego, a police officer caught a foul ball (on a hop, mind you) off the bat of Russell Martin. The cop then proceeded to keep the ball for himself, instead of tossing it to one of the fans begging for the ball. If there was a kid around, I’d have more of an issue with this – there’s no reason to give away your ball to a teenager or young adult, dammit.
