Avisail Garcia of the White Sox

The longest homers for the week ending September 25th

We’ve reached the end of the line. This is the last edition of the longest homers of the week for the 2014 season, with apologies to those who homer in the final three games of the regular season this weekend. On Monday, we’re going to wrap everything up with a look at the 15 longest homers of the year. But today, we close with more blasts from the final full week of the regular season. Enjoy.

1. Avisail Garcia vs Nate Karns, 468 feet (September 21st)

This was the second massive homer by Avisail Garcia on the day at the Trop, and look at where this damn thing landed – in the Captain Morgan Deck way out in center field. Just a monstrous blast.

2. Mark Trumbo vs Juan Nicasio, 454 feet (September 21st)

Much to the chagrin of Dinger behind the plate, Mark Trumbo put a charge into this pitch at Coors Field. I’m sure the Diamondbacks expected this to happen a lot more than it did this season.

3t. Brennan Boesch vs Lisalverto Bonilla, 450 feet (September 19th)

Boesch launched this homer nearly past one of the exit gates in right field at the Big A. This was the highlight of a terrible evening for the Angels.

3t. Justin Bour vs Doug Fister, 450 feet (September 19th)

This is one hell of a blast for your first career homer. Justin Bour, launching one into the second deck at Marlins Park. Welcome to The Show, kid.

5. Randal Grichuk vs Ryan Dennick, 449 feet (September 20th)

Halfway up the section in left center field…nice. Grichuk went ham on this pitch.

Five longest homers of the year
1. Mike Trout vs Jason Vargas, 489 feet (June 27th)
2. Giancarlo Stanton vs Eric Stults, 484 feet (April 4th)
3. David Ortiz vs Masahiro Tanaka, 482 feet (April 22nd)
4. Justin Upton vs Jenrry Mejia, 477 feet (April 10th)
5. Hanley Ramirez vs Jorge de la Rosa, 472 feet (June 8th)
