Cardinals top prospect Oscar Taveras’ first major league hit was a homer

During Saturday’s Giants-Cardinals contest at Busch Stadium, St. Louis’ top prospect Oscar Taveras made his major league debut. And in the fifth inning, Taveras stroked his first major league hit – a home run to right field off of Yusmeiro Petit. It’s likely the first of many of the soon-to-be 22 year old, who was recalled to the majors because first baseman Matt Adams was placed on the 15-day DL.
