Tim Lincecum’s former landlady is suing him

Despite a new haircut, it looks like San Francisco Giants starter Tim Lincecum has the same issues. According to SFGate, the former Cy Young winner is getting sued for $200,000 for destroying the townhouse he rented from May 2010 to February 2011.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom property Lincecum rented at 141 Hampshire St. from May 2010 to February 2011 had a lease provision that allowed either owner or tenant to submit any dispute to confidential, binding arbitration.

Lincecum invoked that provision after landlady Mindy Freile sued him in October 2011. She claimed he had damaged “bedding, doors, carpet, pillows, kitchenware, linens, furniture, household appliances, art work, decorations, patio furniture, lights, lamps and mirrors, among other things’’ around the time his lease expired.

The case has stayed on hold while the courts decide where it belongs. A Superior Court judge refused to order arbitration last March, and the First District Court of Appeal reached the same conclusion last week.

Sigh. Oh Timmy, never change. Though to be fair, Lincecum's apparent destruction of the apartment came three years ago when Lincecum was a mere 25-year old (26 that June) coming off of back-to-back Cy Young seasons. Perhaps he's changed his ways when he changed his hairstyle this winter, and a calmer, more balanced Lincecum is going to be revealed.
