The Pittsburgh Pirates are the best story in baseball this season. The team enjoyed its first winning season since 1992 and beautiful PNC Park will host its first postseason game tonight against the Reds (8 pm ET/TBS). Pirates’ closer Jason Grilli is one of the best stories on a team filled with great stories from local boy Neil Walker to reclamation project Francisco Liriano to NL home run champion Pedro Alvarez. Grilli went from journeyman pitcher out of baseball for a year due to injury to an All-Star closer for the National League Wild Card Pirates. He converted 30 of his first 31 save opportunities of the 2013 season. His nickname is Grilled Cheese and his Twitter handle is @GrillCheese49. Are you picking up what I’m laying down? You want to root for this guy.

Earlier this year, Grilli suffered an arm injury that kept him off the field for over a month. No worries — Mark Melancon stepped in and filled the closer role admirably during Grilli’s absence. A bonus result of the injury? It gave the down to earth and offbeat Grilli a chance to do some moonlighting as a sales associate for a local Dick’s Sporting Goods in Pittsburgh. Check out this hilarious new video from Majestic. Watch it. Enjoy it. Embrace the awesomeness. Grilli’s got a future in sales if this relief pitching gig doesn’t work out.
