Monday night’s Braves-Nationals game postponed

The tragic shootings on Monday in Washington DC have necessitated the postponement of the evening's Braves-Nationals game at Nationals Park. The game will be made up tomorrow as part of a split doubleheader, with game one taking place at 1:05 and game two taking place at 7:05.

When news of the shootings broke this morning, a postponement seemed inevitable, especially with the proximity of the Navy Yard to Nationals Park. The playoff implications of this series simply need to take a back seat to the tragedy and the numerous security concerns that it's raised.

It's not even worth it to discuss the effect that Tuesday's doubleheader will have on both teams in the face of such an unfortunate incident. This is clearly bigger than baseball. Right now, the main issue is making sure the area is safe and that all the shooters are no longer a threat. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Washington right now.
