It is what it is. Jayson Werth got screwed in the National League, and I can't even explain it away as "playing time" since Cuddyer only had eight more plate appearances than him. The playing time argument *may* have come into play in the NL at shortstop, because Troy Tulowitzki was a vastly superior player compared to Desmond this year, but only had 512 plate appearances. I can't even get upset about Jones or Hunter in the AL, because it was a *really* bad year for American League outfielders. It's a little weird JJ Hardy won given that Jed Lowrie was significantly better in all three slash lines. Then there's Pedro Alvarez, who seemingly won based solely on his home run and RBI totals. I can't call a guy with a .296 OBP the best hitter at his position.
The Silver Sluggers were the last awards to be dished out this week. We'll pick this up again on Monday when the Rookie of the Year awards are announced.
