Minor league team hits walkoff single, then loses game

This is one of the most bizarre clips I've seen this year. In the bottom of the ninth inning on Monday, the Lansing Lugnuts and Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League were tied at four runs apiece. With the bases loaded and two outs, Chris Hawkins of the Lugnuts singled in the game-winning run. His teammates mobbed him on the field, and Lansing celebrated the win.

Except…they didn't win. On the play, Santiago Nessy (who was at first base) never touched second base. With the force still active, Great Lakes center fielder James Baldwin tagged second base. After a conference with Great Lakes manager Razor Shines, Nessy was ruled out in a play reminiscent of Merkle's Boner nearly 100 years earlier, and the game continued into extra innings. The Loons scored on an RBI single by Leo Rodriguez, and the Lugnuts were silenced in the bottom of the tenth to give Great Lakes a win that looked like it was gone just an inning earlier.
