Miguel Cabrera, Jim Leyland ejected in first inning

Things got ugly in the first inning of the Tigers-White Sox game on Monday night as Detroit third baseman Miguel Cabrera and manager Jim Leyland were both ejected by home plate umpire Brian Gorman in the first inning.

Cabrera took issue with Gorman after the umpire said Cabrera swung on a check swing without checking with first base umpire Tony Randazzo. Cabrera stepped out of the box and showed Gorman his displeasure and was quickly given the heave-ho.

Leyland came out to defend his player, and after a lengthy argument, was sent to the showers. Cabrera didn't even get one full at bat in the game, as he was down 0-2 in the at bat when his ejection occurred. Ramon Santiago finished the at bat and grounded out to end the top of the first inning.
