On Friday, the Miami Marlins fired long-time president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest. I wondered aloud as to who would want to work for Jeffrey Loria. On Sunday, that question was answered – people that already work for Loria, of course. Michael Hill has been promoted to the president of baseball operations from his previous roles of vice president and general manager, while Dan Jennings has been promoted to general manager from his previous roles of assistant general manager and VP of player development.
Loria's clueless nature also extended to a move he didn't make, keeping team president David Samson employed despite a growing rift between the two men.

"(Jeffrey Loria) has done a tremendous job" and should be involved in personnel decisions.
And just for the hell of it, a quote from Jennings via Joe Frisaro at MLB.com.
"Let me say this, and I'd like to put this out there," Jennings said. "There has been no one in this game that has treated me better than Jeffrey Loria. My family and myself, he's taken care of us. He's been giving. He's given advice. He's taken care of me and my family financially."
Yeah, that explains a lot. Of course Loria is installing people that are loyal to him in the Marlins front office. I can't wait until Loria lets his ego overwhelm the brains of his front office and he forces them to make bad baseball decisions.
