Freeman, Delabar win All-Star Final Vote

The Final Vote competition for the All-Star Game is completed, and the winners are…Freddie Freeman of the Braves and Steve Delabar of the Blue Jays, who led wire to wire in the competition. Yasiel Puig of the Dodgers was the runner-up in the National League, while the American League runner-up was David Robertson of the Yankees.

Freeman will be the fourth NL first baseman on the squad, and is hitting .304/.385/.462 for the Braves with nine home runs. Delabar joins the AL's core of relief pitchers, and has a 1.74 ERA in 47 1/3 innings for Toronto this season, striking out 57 batters, third-most among AL relievers.

In other All-Star related news, Carlos Gonzalez has pulled out of the Home Run Derby, and has been replaced on David Wright's NL squad by Pedro Alvarez of the Pirates. Alvarez has 23 homers, one behind Gonzalez for the NL lead.
