At midnight tonight, free agency begins. Teams can sign wherever they want. This isn't NBA or NFL free agency, though: there's not a giant rash of signings at 12:01 and everything generally isn't settled within a week. The next three plus months are going to be chaotic yet slow-moving, and you're probably going to end up hating yourself by buying into so many of the rumors you see leaked out there.
In some news that isn't a rumor, the Tigers have hired Brad Ausmus as their new manager, leaving the only remaining openings in Chicago and Seattle. The managerial market has taken care of itself pretty quickly this winter, and I'd expect the Cubs job to get filled in the next couple of days as well.
We finished up the Offseason Primer series in the AL this week, looking at the Red Sox, Athletics, and Tigers. We also brought you the bizarre story of a fan suing the Royals after getting hit in the eye with a hot dog. Oh – and Derek Jeter is back with the Yankees. Of course.
Enjoy your offseason, everyone.
