Dugout Digest – a wild week

You know, at the beginning of the offseason, I said I'd be doing a DD three days a week. Well, this is the only DD this week – because there was nothing going on from last Thursday until this Wednesday.

And then all hell broke loose. So, let's recap the last week, shall we?

John McCain trolled Nick Piecoro for his MVP vote.
Carlos Ruiz got a three-year deal from the Phillies.
Tim Hudson signed with the Giants.
LaTroy Hawkins inked a deal with the Rockies.
David Murphy joined the Indians.
Josh Johnson became a Padre.
Javier Lopez remained in San Francisco.
Chris Carpenter retired.
Jason Vargas got four years from the Royals.
-MLBPA executive director Michael Weiner passed away.
-A couple of Red Sox players sold their beards on eBay.
-An 11-year old Cubs fan got told she cheered too loud.

And oh yeah – the Tigers traded Prince Fielder to the Rangers for Ian Kinsler.

Amanda's been in Curacao all week, and has been filing several reports, including an interview with Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons and a look at a clinic put on by some of the players on the island.

We've also written several columns this week.

-I looked at a budding problem for the Washington Nationals.
-Ian came to the realization that he has no idea what Ruben Amaro is doing with the Phillies this winter.
-Ian and I broke down the Fielder-Kinsler deal from the Tigers viewpoint and the Rangers viewpoint.

And with that, we bid you adieu on this Friday morning. But don't worry – we've got more content planned today, including the exclusive first comments from Jurickson Profar about the Kinsler-Fielder trade, a look at the folly of the untradeable contract, and much more.

Enjoy your offseason, everyone.
