Darin Ruf knocks a flyball over the fence

In Monday's 17-10 Braves win over the Phillies, Atlanta bashed four homers against Phillies pitching (while Philadelphia also added one of their own), but one of those homers came with a little help from Phillies left fielder Darin Ruf.

In the bottom of the second inning, Freddie Freeman hit a fly ball to deep left field. Ruf, a converted first baseman, tracked the ball to the warning track and leapt up to make the catch…only to see the ball bounce out of his glove and get propelled over the fence.

Ruf's defense has been his Achilles heel this year, and with Ryan Howard and his monstrous contract locked in at first base, left field is the only real spot left for Ruf to play with the Phillies. Man, if only there was a universal DH…
