Prior to Friday's Mets-Marlins game at Citi Field on Friday, former WWE champion CM Punk will be throwing out the first pitch. But ESPN New York writer Adam Rubin has no idea who Punk is, and he feels that it's necessary to let you know that.
.@cmpunk to throw out ceremonial first pitch at Citi Field on Friday. Never heard of him, but he has 1.6M followers, so maybe I should have.

Yeah, wrestling's popularity has fallen off a cliff in recent years, but it's not as if CM Punk is some sort of unknown. He's thrown out the first pitch (and sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame") at a Cubs game in the past, has been trotted out by WWE for numerous media hits over the last year plus as one of the faces of hte company, and has a match at WrestleMania on Sunday, which will be held at MetLife Stadium in north Jersey.
I can understand someone not knowing who he is (especially if you live in some sort of bubble, like many sportswriters seem to), but Punk has been getting a lot of publicity over the last few months, and the WrestleMania push has been all over the place in the tri-state area in recent weeks.
